Roles & Permissions

Understand the standard staff roles and how business access is scoped in Naayya

Naayya includes standard system roles for common business jobs. Some businesses also use custom roles that bundle specific capabilities together.

Important access note#

Roles describe the baseline access someone should have, but some business-wide admin pages are still intentionally limited to owners and managers. Today that includes the dashboard, the Customers workspace, and the business-wide All Bookings page.

Administrative roles#

Owner#

Owners have full business access. They handle:

  • Billing details and payment setup
  • Business settings and finance
  • Staff assignments and owner-level changes
  • Business-wide reporting and operational pages

Manager#

Managers run day-to-day operations. They usually handle:

  • Classes, schedules, and bookings
  • Inviting staff and choosing an assignable role
  • Business-wide dashboards and people tools
  • Operational settings

Managers can choose a role when they invite someone. Only owners can manage roles on existing staff or remove existing role assignments.

Content Manager#

Content managers focus on class and calendar operations.

  • Manage classes, calendar changes, and bookings
  • Update schedules and future class instances

They do not manage billing or owner-level settings, and they do not get the full business dashboard by default.

Marketing Manager#

Marketing managers focus on campaign work.

  • Email campaigns and social media
  • Marketing content and promotion workflows

They do not manage payments, billing, or staff settings.

Receptionist and Attendant#

These roles are operational and often paired with narrower permission bundles.

  • Receptionists can manage booking and point-of-sale workflows.
  • Attendants can view booking and point-of-sale work without the same management access.

Access can vary by business. For example, someone may be allowed to open POS or booking tools without full checkout or admin privileges.

Service provider roles#

Service provider roles are designed for delivery rather than business administration.

  • Teacher
  • Therapist
  • Trainer
  • Esthetician
  • Lifeguard

These roles generally see assigned work and relevant schedules, but not business-wide financial or admin pages.

Multiple roles#

Team members can hold multiple roles. Naayya combines the access from all assigned roles, which is useful when one person wears more than one hat.

Custom roles#

Some businesses use Custom Roles (Beta) to create business-specific permission bundles. These roles can appear alongside the system roles in staff settings.

If you see a custom label such as Front Desk Lead, that role may grant a narrower or broader capability set than the standard roles alone.

Best practice#

Start with the closest system role, then layer in another role or a custom role only if the baseline access is not enough.
