Use Close bookings when one scheduled class session should stop accepting new places without cancelling the bookings already on it. This control applies to that session, not every date in its series.
How to close bookings#
- Go to Admin > Classes, open the class, then open the scheduled session you want to pause.
- In the session details, find Bookings open and select Close bookings.
- Confirm that the status now reads Bookings closed. The page shows when it was closed.
How to reopen bookings#
Return to the same session and select Reopen bookings. Check that the status reads Bookings open, then review the customer booking page before sharing it again.
What happens when bookings are closed#
New bookings and new waitlist joins for that session are blocked. Waitlist promotions for the closed session are skipped. Existing bookings stay in place. Closing is not the same as cancelling a session or refunding its bookings; see Editing Future Class Instances before changing scheduled dates or archiving them.
What customers see#
The class page shows a Bookings Closed badge and a Bookings are closed message in place of the booking options. For workshops, the message names the workshop. Customers cannot use that page to make a new booking while the session is closed.
When to use this#
Close a session while you resolve a capacity, instructor or location issue, or while you decide what to do with its schedule. If you need to change the time, place or instructor, review the existing bookings and contact affected customers directly; a bulk edit does not notify them automatically.
Common questions#
Does closing affect existing bookings?#
Closing does not remove existing bookings. Check the session roster before contacting customers or changing the session further.
Can I close all future instances at once?#
The Close bookings control acts on one scheduled session at a time. Open each affected session and check its state if you need to pause several dates.
What about waitlist members?#
Existing entries remain on the list, but new joins and promotions are blocked while this session is closed. Reopening allows new booking attempts and waitlist joins again where the class is otherwise eligible; check the current waitlist and bookings rather than assuming an old offer was resent. See Waitlists for Classes.
