Use a coupon or discount when a customer should pay less than the normal price. Naayya has two separate workflows:
- Customer coupons are attached to one customer's record.
- Discounts are reusable discount definitions that can be used with promotional codes.
Choose the workflow that matches who should receive the discount. Check the final amount and the applicable product or booking rules before telling a customer what they will pay.
Customer coupons#
Use a customer coupon for a one-person adjustment, such as a service recovery or a promised courtesy discount.
- Go to Admin > Customers and open the customer.
- Open the customer actions menu.
- Select Add Coupon.
- Enter a Code and optional Description.
- Choose the discount Type and enter its Value.
- Optionally set Expires On, a Uses limit, and whether the coupon is Active.
- Select Create Coupon.
To review or change coupons for that customer, open the same actions menu and select Manage Coupons. The dialog shows each code, whether it is Active or Inactive, its discount, and its expiry. Use the edit control to change a coupon, or delete it when it should no longer be available. Deletion cannot be undone.
When editing a coupon, the form can also show Valid From, Valid Until, Redemption Limit, and Active Status. The exact fields depend on whether you are creating or editing the coupon.
Business-wide discounts#
Use Admin > Discounts for discounts that may be reused across customers. The page separates Active and Expired discounts. Select New Discount to create one.
When creating a discount, enter:
- Name
- Discount Type, either Percentage or Fixed amount
- The percentage or Amount Off and its currency
- Duration, such as Once, Multiple months, or Forever
You can also set a Redeem by date, a maximum number of redemptions, and Apply to specific products. If you limit the discount to products, select the products that should accept it and review the selection before saving. Select Create Discount when the settings are correct.
Open a discount to review its value, duration, expiry, redemption count, product restrictions, and promotional codes. The detail page can also show whether the discount is Active or Expired.
What to decide before creating a coupon#
Decide:
- Whether the discount is for one customer or a wider promotion
- Whether the value is a percentage or fixed amount
- Which currency applies to a fixed amount
- Whether the discount applies once, for multiple months, or forever after redemption
- When customers can redeem it and how many redemptions are allowed
- Which products should accept it
- Whether customers need a promotional code to use it
Customer coupons are managed from a customer record. Reusable discounts are managed from Admin > Discounts.
What you cannot fix with a coupon#
Do not use a coupon to hide an incorrect payment, product, credit, or booking record. Review the original record and the relevant policy first. A discount changes what a customer pays; it does not by itself correct a missing credit, a cancellation, an attendance record, or a payment that was already recorded incorrectly.
Troubleshooting#
The coupon does not work at checkout#
Check that the code is entered exactly as provided, that the coupon or discount is active, and that it has not expired or reached its usage limit. Confirm that the purchase uses a product allowed by the discount.
For a reusable discount, open Admin > Discounts, open the discount, and review its promotional codes. A promotional code can be inactive even when its underlying discount still exists.
The wrong discount amount was created#
Review the discount type, value, currency, duration, redemption limits, expiry, and product restrictions. If the discount has already been used, check the related payment or booking record before making a correction. Ask a business owner or manager to review money-related corrections.
A coupon appears expired#
Check the coupon's expiry date and its Active or Inactive state. For a reusable discount, use the Active and Expired tabs in Admin > Discounts and review its Redeem by date. Do not promise that an expired coupon can be applied to a new checkout.
